You will work with a range of different people with differing care requirements – every day is different to the next.

What does it take to be a care worker?

A desire to help people and the ability to work well with others is really important in the care sector. Working with sensitivity and understanding whilst having the patience and ability to remain calm in stressful situations is imperative. To be thorough and pay attention to detail whilst working under pressure is key. Overall, empathy and respect play a huge role – you should want to actively engage and build relationships with clients, putting their complex individual needs before your own.

Why work for Inter-County?

At Inter-County our staff turnover rate is refreshingly low. We like to think this is because of the many benefits, alongside the tight-knit team of supportive professionals who work with us. Not only do we provide the opportunity to train as you learn, we offer ongoing career progression and development opportunities. We provide flexible hours – as many or as few as you choose, allowing you to work around your family, education or interests. We offer excellent rates of pay – paid weekly, including mileage. We also provide holiday pay and a stakeholder pension. You will receive professional and friendly support 24/7 – the lovely office team is here for your needs too.

We are always interested in talking to existing carers who want to work for a company that really cares about their staff, or people looking to start a new career in care. We look for a number of different qualities in our staff – as a minimum we want people who are reliable, committed to high standards of care, conscientious and who can work under pressure.

Every day 6,000 people take on a caring responsibility – this equates to over 2 million people each year. The care sector continues to grow year on year, with demand constantly increasing amidst an ageing population and unprecedented times of need and support – continuing to deliver the highest possible standard of care remains our priority at Inter-County Nursing & Care Services.

We have been providing unparalleled care services since 2002. Our objective has remained the same – enabling those that need support to enjoy the familiarity and comfort of their own homes while continuing to take their place in the communities they know and love.

Our reputation for professionalism, reliability, flexibility, empathy and a friendly, caring approach to our clients and their families has enabled us to grow into the company we are today. We have branches in Chichester, Worthing and Christchurch.

Each of our branches are operated by a dedicated team who are highly knowledgeable and experienced in the care sector. Our skilled staff members will work with you to advise you and your relatives on the most suitable solutions for your care needs, providing you with specialised carers who will always put the best interests of their clients first. Our carers commitment to their clients ensures a personalised care service, completely tailored to their individual requirements, abilities and wishes.

We offer a broad range of services to suit most circumstances, with flexibility in mind, meaning that  care plans can be changed, scaled up or down according to our clients evolving needs.

The services we offer include – Care at home, Live-in care, Dementia care, Respite & Short-term care, Palliative & End of Life care and Social Companionship. All of these services are delivered with the utmost respect, empathy and understanding.

It is understandably difficult for clients to accept that support is needed, but our incredible team of carers and managers work with empathy and sensitivity to meet your relatives needs, whilst ensuring their confidence and independence is not compromised. We can assist with routine tasks around the home, making sure that prescribed medication is taken correctly or preparing meals, for all of which they have the necessary training and experience.

When it comes to more sensitive needs such as personal hygiene, continence, bed routine and dressing, our carers always put your relative’s independence, dignity and personal choice first.

Our care services are flexible and can be entirely tailored to the individual needs and wishes of people using the service. Carers are allocated to provide support based on their skills, experience, qualifications and personality. Consistency is an important element of care that can sometimes be overlooked – but we understand the importance of matching carers to the people receiving care to ensure complete continuity, confidence and ultimately trust.

People need people, we are social creatures and companionship can be a lifeline for many people – COVID-19 illustrated the importance of a stroll in the park with a friend or a chat over a cup of tea. The profound psychological and physical effects of loneliness are very much commonplace amongst older people living alone, a friendly face and conversation goes a long way in providing comfort and support. Our care packages are designed to meet specific individual requirements, and to achieve this a full and detailed discussion takes place to accurately assess the appropriate level of care for each person-centred care plan. We take into consideration the person’s life history, experiences, likes, dislikes and individual abilities and skills. The Inter-County approach is individual-focused and driven by quality standards. We take into account a vast array of needs and preferences to ensure the highest level of individual care is provided.
