Inter-County is a privately owned care agency with branches located in Chichester, Worthing, and Christchurch. We have been providing home care to the local community since 2002 and have gained a reputation for being professional, friendly and flexible.                                 Care at home                            Whether your relative requires support with everyday living or has more complex needs, we can adapt our service to help ensure independence and confidence to their regular routine.
Understandably, it is often difficult for clients to accept that support is needed. Our carers and managers work with empathy and sensitivity to ensure meeting your relative’s individual needs, whether helping with routine tasks around the home, making sure that prescribed medication is taken correctly or preparing meals, for all of which they have training and experience. 

For more sensitive needs like personal hygiene, continence, bed routine and dressing, our carers always put your relative’s independence, dignity and personal choice first. 

                                Live-in care & Housekeeping                            With Live-In Care you have the option to stay at home and be supported to live a full and active life, whilst having the reassurance that someone is always close by to offer a helping hand if needed. The arrangement of care and support can be for a continuous or short period of time. Live-In Care provides the support needed to help you with everyday living. It can also assist you with personal care, management of medication, general household tasks and support with appointments and social events.
One of our most important considerations is that the carer chosen to live with you has the necessary skills, experience and qualifications, and that you are happy and comfortable with them being in your home. By operating a 24 hour service, seven days a week, 365 days of the year, there will always be someone available from the office for you to speak to should you need any additional advice or help.

We aim to provide a holistic approach with quality at the centre of everything that we do. Nothing is too much trouble, so if it’s help with personal care, meal preparation, walking the dog or driving you to an appointment – we can adapt our service to ensure that it’s exactly right for you.

                                Dementia Care                            As a close family member you may well be making the difficult decision of choosing care for someone affected by dementia. Inter-County is able to provide the necessary support throughout the varying stages of dementia, to help people stay living at home, safely and independently, for as long as possible.
By assessing people’s physical, personal and emotional needs we are able to design a package of care that is person-centred to meet specific requirements, taking into account the person’s life history and experiences, their likes and dislikes and individual skills and abilities.

The relationship formed with home care staff is fundamental to person-centred care. It is therefore essential that the staff who undertake this work are skilled and experienced in supporting people living with dementia. We are also aware of the many benefits that a regular carer can offer and we endeavour to provide continuity of care whilst helping to maintain a safe, secure and stable living environment.
We understand the importance of providing a flexible and holistic service, and can accommodate requests for as little as one visit a day or week up to full 24-hour care as required. We can also provide respite care to enable the primary carer to take a break. Our priority is to support the person’s safety, health and wellbeing by delivering a  quality and effective care service.

                                Respite                            Respite care is used as a temporary alternative to a person’s usual care arrangements. People who care for someone on a regular basis may want a break or a holiday, or may have other commitments and need to take time off. If this is your situation, Inter-County can provide a carer to visit daily or live in your home for as long as required.
The carer will provide domestic, physical and emotional support and will follow the individual’s normal care routine ensuring personal preferences and individual wishes are met. Your primary carer and relatives can confidently enjoy a short time away knowing that someone is on hand 24 hours a day.

Respite care at home can be arranged at very short notice and carers can often be placed within 24 hours of a request being made.

                                Short-Term Care                            Convalescing after an operation or illness usually means a period of time where support is needed until the person is well enough to resume their normal life.
The following categories give guidance on the different levels of support that can be offered:
Low dependency – where individuals are largely self-caring but need the extra support and reassurance that a carer can provide. This might take the form of housework, shopping, preparing meals and companionship.

Medium dependency – might typically include assistance with personal care such as bathing, dressing, continence and mobility in addition to practical help and domestic chores around the house.
High dependency – can encompass all the above but is offered when people may need assistance with more complex healthcare such as catheter/stoma care, administration of medication and pressure care.

                                Palliative & End of Life Care                            A number of terms are used when a person is approaching the last stages of their life such as palliative care, supportive care, terminal care and end of life care. Whatever the terminology, it is always a traumatic and incredibly emotional time for everyone concerned.
The goal of Palliative care is to achieve the best quality of life for people suffering from a serious, chronic or terminal illness. This can be done through the management of pain and other symptoms, and support with emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

End of life care usually refers to the care of a person during the last part of their life, from the point at which it has become clear that the person is in a progressive state of decline. In these circumstances, Inter-County can help by providing experienced staff to give the reassurance, comfort and support needed during this difficult time. With care and sensitivity our carers can help the person retain a sense of hope and normality. Our holistic approach means we work closely with other Healthcare Professionals and Specialists to ensure that the person’s care needs are being met at all times.

                                Social Companionship                            We fully understand the problems associated with loneliness and recognise the importance of social interaction and communication with other people. Whether it’s to spend time looking through old family albums, sharing interests and hobbies, visiting friends or just having a chat over a cup of tea, our carers can provide the support and companionship needed to make a difference and provide what is often considered to be an important lifeline for those people living on their own. 
Loneliness can bring with it profound psychological and physical effects, but sadly it is very commonplace amongst older people living alone, especially if bereaved or it is difficult for family members to visit. Aside from this, people sometimes just need a little extra help for normal routine activities such as housekeeping, walking the dog or preparing a home cooked meal as an example.

Our experienced carers will provide your relative with friendly companionship and conversation, ensuring their health and well-being is maintained and facilitating contact with friends and family. In turn, you will have the reassurance that someone is on hand to give whatever help is needed and provide care and support to your loved one when you’re unable to.

How do you allocate care workers to clients?
